Exercise Your Heart at the Y Sweetheart Run

Exercise your heart, join the community in participating in the 16th Annual YMCA Sweetheart Run, and help Stratford's youth at the same time.

If you don't run in the YMCA's 16th Annual Sweetheart Run, you are not getting your exercise while helping out the YMCA Scholarship Fund at the same time.

When you don't help out the YMCA Scholarship Fund, Stratford's less fortunate youth are not able to participate in life-changing activities at the Y.

When Stratford's less fortunate youth are not able to participate in life-changing activities at the Y ... okay, so you probably see where I am going with this.

Somewhere in here the punch line of "Don't have a grandson with a dog collar" is sure to pop up. For those of you who have seen the most recent DirecTV commercial, the above paragraph hopefully made some sense.

For those of you who haven't, well, I apologize for what probably sounded like an incoherent rant that wasn't going anywhere.

So, what is this Sweetheart Run that I am referring to?

The Stratford YMCA is in its 16th year of hosting a Road Race and Fitness Walk that helps raise funds for the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. This is a fund that allows children and families the opportunity to take part in programs that they may not otherwise be able to afford.

This year's event is this Saturday, Feb. 11 at Boothe Memorial Park. The 4-mile road race and 3-mile fitness walk begin at 10 a.m. While preregistration is recommended, it is not required. It's $22 to run the 4-mile race and $10 to take part in the 3-mile fitness walk.

More information can be found at www.hitekracing.com/sweetheart/.

We are looking forward to seeing you there. Stop by, go for a run, and meet the Y staff, all while helping the kids in our community. It is sure to be a great time for all. See you Saturday!
