Stratford School Board Puts Best Foot Forward

As part of a healthy living program, Stratford Board of Education employees walked more than 104 million steps in May.

Here's to putting your best foot forward, Stratford Board of Education.

During the month of May, more than 500 Stratford school board employees tracked their footsteps with pedometers as part of a walking challenge to promote healthy living and fight obesity.

"Over 70 percent of our employees happily participated," Helen Levine, a registered nurse who works for Stratford schools, said in a statement. "We walked over 104 million steps which is equivalent to walking twice around the world."

“This was a rewarding experience," said Levine. "It helped our employees focus on their own health and made a healthy step forward. Now that we’ve seen the impact a program like this can have, we can’t wait to get the students involved."
