Lordship Students Enjoy 'Magic Carpet Ride' to Aladdin Screening

Lordship Elementary in Stratford and their families were given the opportunity to attend a personal screening of "Aladdin" at the Bridgeport Cabaret.

The following is a press release from the Lordship Elementary School PTA.

The students of Lordship Elementary in Stratford and their families have done such a terrific job in fundraising for the PTA this school year that they were given the opportunity to attend a personal screening of Aladdin at the Bridgeport Cabaret!

On Wednesday, April 23rd the student body went on a “magic carpet ride” (or a chartered bus to some) to the theater and enjoyed lunch and the show.

“We’re thrilled to offer this opportunity to every student in our school to show them our gratitude for being involved in our efforts, “ Dung Stafford, the PTA President, commented.

Frances Outlaw-Jones, the Cultural Arts Chair, and other committee members searched for an event that could be enjoyed by all.  “For many students, this was their first time in a theater.  We are honored to give everyone this opportunity,”  Jones added.

Throughout the month of April students read different versions of Aladdin according to their grade level.  The classic was even incorporated into their Art and Music classes.

Kate Murphy, Lordship’s Principal, conferred that it was an easy vote for her and the faculty to make.

“Whenever we can expand the student’s life experiences along with curriculum, it’s a win-win for all.”

Along with this opportunity the PTA has also funded the Norwalk Maritime Partnership Program which brings both the Maritime staff into the classroom and students to the Maritime Center a few times a year to expand our marine science program.

“There are lots of positive changes happening at Lordship School and we couldn’t do it without the support of our families and community.” Murphy concluded.
