Former Bunnell Principal Named Interim Head at Foran

Edward F. Schuck, who served 12 years as Bunnell High School's principal, begins the job Jan. 2.

Edward F. Schuck, a long-time employee of the Stratford Public Schools system including 12 years as Bunnell High School's principal, was recently appointed interim principal at Joseph A. Foran High School in Milford.

Schuck will remain at Foran through the end of the school year while a search for a permanent replacement for departing Principal John Barile continues.

The former Bunnell head began working at the high school in 1967 as a social studies teacher, cross country coach and a senior class advisor. In 1973, he moved into the counseling department as a career specialist for three years. He then served as the school's head guidance counselor for 10 years.

In 1986, Schuck was named the assistant principal at Bunnell. Six years later, when the principal's position at Bunnell became available, Schuck was selected for the job -- a position he held for the next 12 years.

As principal, Schuck led Bunnell during a period of rapid growth as enrollment increased from 800 to 1400 students. Schuck retired from the Stratford Public Schools in 2004. Since then he has served as an interim principal several times throughout the state, including a period at Foran High School in 2008.
