Presentation: Bullying of Students with Disabilities

Julie Swanson and Jennifer Laviano will share ideas on how to help schools avoid litigation stemming from the targeting of children with special education needs by setting up systems to address the bullying before it becomes a crisis. Parents will learn how to work with schools to develop IEPs that help students learn the social and self-advocacy skills necessary to reduce disability harassment. An examination of the laws that protect students who are discriminated against on the basis of their disability will also be made. Event takes place inside Second Hill Lane's library. Registration requested: info@stratfordsepta.org.
