Town Committees to Endorse Candidates for Fall Elections Today, Tomorrow

The Democrats meet tonight and the Republicans will converge tomorrow night.

It's endorsement week for the Stratford Democratic and Republican Town Committees.

The Democratic Town Committee will meet at the Baldwin Center tonight (7 p.m.) with the purpose of nominating and endorsing candidates for the 2011 general elections.

And the Republican Town Committee will meet Thursday night (7:30 p.m.) at the Mill River Road Country Club (4567 Main St.) for that same purpose.

Both meetings are open to the public for observation.

Included on the Democrats agenda are endorsements for up to four candidates for constable; candidates for Planning Districts I and II; candidates for Zoning Districts I and II; candidates for Zoning Board of Appeals Districts IV and V; up to three candidates for the Board of Education; and candidates for Town Council, Districts I through X.

The election of a permanent chair and permanent secretary will also take place at the meeting tonight.

Tomorrow night's Republican Town Committee special meeting will cover endorsements for the Board of Education, constables, land use and the Town Council.
