Weather Warming; Fire Hydrants Need Your Help

Sunday into Monday will see temperatures rise where they have not gone to in a while -- perhaps well into the 40s near 50 -- good weather to help the Stratford fire department clear out street fire hydrants before the next freeze.

Stratford fire officials are looking for a little help, even though they know it's been a tough winter on everyone.

The Stratford Fire Department Local 998 posted on their Facebook page recently, "We are aware it has been a trying winter on everyone.

"We would just like to say that we greatly appreciate all of the Stratford residents who shoveled the hydrant(s) in their neighborhood.

"This is a great help and can drastically effect the safety of you and your neighbors."

The weather forecast at least through Monday is promising for a February thaw.  Highs on Monday, Valentine's Day, are expected to reach 45 degrees with sunnier skies later in the day. Tuesday, however, the cold returns, with highs only in the upper 30s.
