Two local teens face drug charges after Stratford police say they caught them smoking marijuana at over the weekend.
Kenneth Pugh, 18, of Stratford, and Jonathan Irby, 19, of Bridgeport, were both charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of under four ounces of marijuana.
Police said they were Saturday when they noticed three males sitting in a parked car that emitted the smell of marijuana.
Officers said they conducted a motor vehicle stop after the car left the lot. When questioned, the three men all admitted to smoking pot at Short Beach, police said.
A search of the car reportedly discovered a bag with nine smaller bags of suspected marijuana, and a metal container used for grinding down marijuana. The pot later tested positive with a weight of 5.8 grams, police said.
The 22-year-old man who was not charged in the incident said he had no knowledge that there were drugs in the vehicle, police said.
Pugh and Irby both posted $1,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in court June 28.
Police said the two men are known members of the Touch Money Gang.
