Teen Busted at Birdseye Boat Ramp for Intent to Sell

A 19-year-old Stratford teen was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell after officers reportedly found 18 bags of marijuana (21.4 grams) in his car at the Birdseye Boat Ramp.

Sean Maxfield, of Light Street, allegedly admitted the pot was his after found the individually packaged bags in the car's console, police said.

An officer responding to a complaint of illegal activity by youths at the Birdseye Boat Ramp on Feb. 7 found Maxfield's car parked in the darkest section of the parking lot, police said.

The officer reportedly shone his spotlight on the car and saw three males in a cloud of smoke. The car had its windows down and when the officer approached the passenger side of the vehicle there was the strong smell of marijuana, police said.

When asked if there was any pot in the car, police said Maxfield, who was in the driver's seat, pulled a small plastic bag with suspected marijuana from his pocket.

The front passenger also removed a small plastic bag with suspected marijuana from his pants and the rear passenger handed the officer a white glass pipe with suspected marijuana residue in it, police said.

The front passenger was issued an infraction for possession of marijuana, given an answer date of Feb. 17 and released at the scene. The rear passenger was issued an infraction for possession of drug paraphernalia, given an answer date of Feb. 24 and released at the scene.

Then Clements and Khan were summoned to the boat ramp, police said.

The 18 bags of marijuana were packaged in one big bag, police said.

Maxfield was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. He was released on $1,000 bond and is due in court Feb. 17.
