Structural Fire On Canaan Road Breaks Out Early Monday Morning

Stratford fire department knocks down blaze quickly, limiting damage to the immediate basement area.

The Stratford fire department responded to a structural fire on Canaan Road at approximately 3:15 a.m. Monday morning and quickly knocked down the blaze, containing the damage to the basement area, officials said.

Early Monday morning, Engines 1, 2, 3, and 5, Ladder 1 and Car 3 responded to the scene at 524 Canaan Road.

Officials said that at upon arrival, emergency units reported heavy smoke showing from the 2.5-story wood frame dwelling.

"A quick knockdown by 18 responding firefighters contained the fire to the basement of the home," firemen reported. There were no reported injuries.
