A 19-year-old Stratford woman was killed Sunday morning after her car collided with a tractor-trailer that was stopped on the right shoulder of I-95 southbound in Milford, according to state police.

Police said Alexis Michaelson, of 36 Lenox Ave., was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital from severe head injuries suffered from the crash that happened yesterday at 10:13 a.m.

Police said the car for an unknown reason traveled into the right shoulder about 700 feet north of exit 36, collided with the back of the tractor-trailer and became wedged underneath the truck.

Michaelson was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated before she was transported to the hospital.

Police said there were no passengers in Michaelson's car, and the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

State police are investigating the accident.
