Enforcement actions reported for the period Feb. 18 through Feb. 27.

On Feb. 18, police stopped a car on Honeyspot Road after a check revealed that the registration had expired. The driver, Otis Smith, 49, of Sedgewick Avenue, was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating without insurance. He was released on a promise to appear in court on March 8.

On Feb. 24, police stopped a car on Barnum Avenue after the driver was observed not wearing a seat belt. The operator, Andrew Brown, 31, of Bridgeport, admitted that the car was not registered or insured. He was charged with no seat belt, operating an unregistered vehicle, no insurance and an emissions violation and released on a promise to appear in court on March 8.

On Feb. 27, police responded to Hollister Street on a complaint of a domestic violence incident. When police arrived, the officer was unable to locate the person allegedly causing the disturbance, but was told that the person would soon be returning. At that time, a car entered the apartment complex and when the operator saw the police car, it made a quick U-turn and sped away at a high rate of speed. The officer pursued and stopped the vehicle on Thompson Street. The operator, Keenya Cooper, 28, of Fairfield, had an expired driver’s license. Meanwhile, regarding the original complaint, officers took a statement from the complainant stating that he arrived at his residence and found Cooper at the scene. She does not live in the complex. She is the mother of his child and had allegedly been harassing him since September of 2010. He told police that he spoke to officers in September regarding ongoing problems with Cooper. That night, it was alleged that she was yelling and screaming at him causing a disturbance outside of his residence. Cooper told police that she was annoyed that he was ignoring her and admitted she was upset and went to his residence. She was charged with disorderly conduct and released on a promise to appear in court. In addition, she was charged with operating without  license and failure to signal and court was set for March 11.
