Enforcement actions taken on April 27.

On April 27, police were patrolling in the area of Masarik Avenue and Orange Street when a vehicle registration check revealed an expired plate on a Dodge pickup truck. The vehicle was stopped and the operator, Charles D. Brown, 60, of Orange Street, was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, no insurance, an emissions violation and no front plate. He was allowed to park his truck in driveway and was released on a promise to appear in court on May 10.

On April 27, police were dispatched to Home Depot on Barnum Avenue cutoff on a report of a party in custody for shoplifting. Upon arrival, a store security officer stated that he observed the party in custody walk past the point of sale with a shopping cart full of merchandise. The store official told police that he stopped the male outside the store and brought him back inside without incident. The man was identified as Virgilio Obaldia, 30, of Henry Avenue, who told police that he did attempt to exit the store without paying for items. He told police his plan was to sell the material to a metal shop in Bridgeport. The value of the items was estimated at $323.87. A background check revealed two previous larceny and motor vehicle charges. He was charged with larceny and held on $1,000 bond pending a May 4 court date.

On April 27, while on patrol, police stopped a vehicle that showed a suspended regisration due to a lack of insurance. The operator, Timothy Grajales, 24, was charged with operating a vehicle with suspended license and operating without insurance. He was released on a promise to appear in court on May 9.
