Stratford Man Charged in Shelton Burglaries

Douglas Fast is also a suspect in a rash of burglaries in area towns, police say.

A 47-year-old Stratford man has been arrested in connection with two burglaries in Shelton and is a suspect for several others in area towns.

Douglas Fast, of 94 Everett St., was charged Wednesday by Shelton police for his alleged involvement in a Nov. 23 burglary on Isinglass Road and a Dec. 5 burglary on Dome Drive.

During the Isinglass Road burglary, a 14-year-old girl hid in her bedroom, police said.

For the Isinglass Road burglary, Fast was charged with:

  • Second-degree burglary
  • First-degree larceny
  • Second-degree criminal mischief

For the Dome Drive burglary, Fast was charged with:

  • Third-degree burglary
  • Second-degree larceny
  • Third-degree criminal mischief

Police said Fast was originally taken into custody by Seymour police after he led them on a car chase through that town. He is a suspect in a rash of burglaries in area towns, police said.
