Stratford Man Charged in Alleged Pistol-Whipping Robbery

Suspect and an accomplice are accused of pistol-whipping a victim.

A Stratford resident was arrested Jan. 10 on a warrant charging him with participating in a November robbery in Enfield in which a victim was reportedly pistol-whipped.

Gordon Stover, 27, was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, second-degree assault with a firearm, and carrying a dangerous weapon. He was arraigned Wednesday in Enfield Superior Court, and is being held at Hartford Correctional Center in lieu of $250,000 bond.

Stover and an unnamed accomplice, who is still at large, allegedly robbed a victim on Thistle Lane in the Thompsonville section of Enfield on Nov. 17, 2011. During the course of the robbery, the men beat the victim with a pistol, Enfiled police Capt. Fred Hall said.
