Stratford Man Accused of Stealing Car from Movies

Nicholas Chiarantano stripped the vehicle for parts, according to police. He's due in court next week.

A 25-year-old Stratford resident is accused of stealing a car from a Trumbull Bowtie Cinemas movie theater in June 2012 and stripping it for parts.

Nicholas Chiarantano of Barnum Terrace turned himself into Trumbull police last month.

He charged with third-degree larceny (a class D felony), and use of a motor vehicle without permission and interfering with an officer/resisting (both class A misdemeanors).

Police said Chiarantano also gave officers false information related to the alleged June 2012 incident. The Stratford man was held in lieu of $5,000 bond before being released from custody by Trumbull police last month.

His case is awaiting a plea. Chiarantano is due back in court April 30, according to the pending case detail on the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch's website.

Information supplied by Trumbull police does not indicate a conviction.
