Intoxicated Son Fights With Father; Then Taunts Police

Another case of alcohol leading to an arrest and court appearance.

It's something that a parent rarely wants to do when it involves one of your own, but sometimes it's necessary -- calling the police.

On March 7, police were dispatched to Shirley Drive on a report of a domestic disturbance between a father and a son.

Upon arrival, police spoke to the father who stated that his son was causing a disturbance and was threatening to fight him continually by getting in his face and pointing at him.

The son, Sean Gillespy, 42, of Shirley Drive, had allegedly come home intoxicated. His father told police that his son began yelling at him and his son's mother. The father said there were ongoing problems with his son.

Police then spoke to Gillespy, who police said “appeared to be very intoxicated and was acting belligerent.” As police were talking to Gillespy, he kept looking at his father and then started yelling at him and “calling him a bitch" for calling the police.

Gillespy was told that he was being arrested for disorderly conduct. When police attempted to handcuff him, Gillespy allegedly “became very combative” with police, yelling and attempting to pull away.

Two officers had a brief struggle with Gillespy, who had to “be forced into the patrol car.”

On the way to headquarters, Gillespy on the entire ride was yelling “you are nothing without your guns and badges,” police said, and that he would “love to run into you at a bar and see how tough you really are.”

He also allegedly was kicking and striking his head while yelling at the officers. After arrival at headquarters, Gillespy was charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with an officer. Bond was $2500 and he was held pending a March 8 court appearance.
