Facebook Status: Arrested; YouTube Video: N/A

The following arrest information was supplied by the Stratford Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

While being booked on larceny and burglary charges last week, two Bridgeport teens joked with Stratford police about updating their Facebook statuses to "arrested," police said.

And despite being held on a combined $12,500 bond, police said the teens also said how they wanted to post the police car video on YouTube.

Nicholas Ramirez, 19, and Scott Lovar, 18, were arrested Feb. 22 for their alleged involvement in at least one motor vehicle theft early that morning.

A minor who reportedly led an officer on a foot chase was also charged in the incident, police said.

According to a police report, at about 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, an officer was dispatched to Avon Street on a report of a suspicious red vehicle with people in it.

Upon arrival to Avon Street, a dark-colored vehicle drove past the patrol car with its headlights off, police said. After the officer activated his lights and siren, the suspect reportedly continued down the road for a while before jumping from the driver's seat of the vehicle.

Police said the officer was led on a foot chase through several yards in the area of Allen Street and Surf Avenue. Near the corner of Avon Street and Surf Avenue, the suspect jumped in the backseat of a red car that matched the description of the original suspicious activity complaint, police said.

Another officer was able to stop the red car at the intersection of Surf Avenue and Stratford Avenue and three males were taken into custody, police said.

The suspect who fled police was identified as a minor. The driver was ID'd as Scott Lovar and the second backseat passenger as Nicholas Ramirez.

Police said the red car, a Honda Civic, had several tools in it that are used to steal cars. In addition, the Civic's registration did not match the plate on the vehicle, police said.

The dark-colored car, an Acura, was found to have a broken ignition, police said. Paperwork in the vehicle reportedly showed the Acura belonging to a man on Avon Street. Police said an officer went to the owner's address and the car was confirmed as stolen.

The minor who reportedly led the officer on the foot chase was charged with:

  • Third-degree burglary
  • Third-degree larceny
  • Interfering with a police officer
  • Possession of burglary tools
  • Evading property damage
  • Engaging police in pursuit
  • Operating a motor vehicle without a driver's license

The arrested was held on $10,000 bond and is due in court Feb. 29.
