Expired Rental Car Leads to Drug, Vehicle Charges
The following arrest information was supplied by the Stratford Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
A police officer assigned to monitor suspected illegal narcotics activity at the intersection of Stratford Avenue and Beardsley Avenue nabbed a motorist who was driving a stolen vehicle with suspected ecstasy in it.
Police reports said Aaron Rumstay, of 562 King St., Stratford, was driving a North Carolina rental car that was past its rental lease when he was pulled over on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 5:02 p.m.
A DMV records check reportedly revealed Rumstay having a criminal history out of North Carolina.

Reports said while the officer waited for a tow truck, a search of the overdue rental vehicle found a small baggie containing two tablets. Later at police headquarters, Rumstay reportedly confirmed the pills were ecstasy, but said they were not his.
Rumstay was charged with possession of a hallucinogenic substance, third-degree larceny and operating under suspension.

He was given a court date of Oct. 21 and held on $5,000 bond.
