Sobriety Checkpoints in Stratford Saturday

DUI enforcement in full effect for Fourth of July holiday weekend.

The message from Stratford Police is simple: don't drink and drive.

And to further that message, officers will be out in force this Fourth of July weekend as part of the 2013 Comprehensive DUI Enforcement program.

"This program enables us to conduct roadside sobriety checkpoints in an effort to reduce the number of impaired driving injuries and fatalities through increased high-visibility DUI enforcement," according to a release from the department.

Locally, that means the Stratford Police Department will be conducting roadside sobriety checkpoints and increased patrols throughout this upcoming Fourth of July holiday weekend.

The sobriety checkpoints are scheduled for Saturday, July 6, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
