49-Years-Old, 45 Acts of Vandalism

A 49-year-old man was busted this week on charges that he drove around in his moped at night vandalizing parked cars in Stratford.

Over the course of about a week, police said the man vandalized about 45 vehicles by spraying a corrosive substance on them. Police discovered two large cans of paint thinner in his mother’s garage, which the man was reportedly staying in.

Unreturned Car Rental Results in Ecstasy Charges

A Stratford man was arrested for possession of ecstasy this week, but police say he denies ownership of the two pills found in the vehicle he was driving.

The suspect was pulled over when an officer ran the vehicle’s plates and discovered the car was a rental that was not returned and therefore reported stolen. The rental was out of North Carolina, where the man charged reportedly has a criminal history.

Domestic Dispute Disrupts School Day

A Hamden school was locked down this week when police were informed a man who may have a gun was in the area and had threatened to kill his mother.

The 18-year-old man, of Hamden, turned himself after police made phone contact with him at his girlfriend’s house. He was arrested on multiple charges, including second-degree threatening. His girlfriend, 17, was also charged with possession of marijuana and interfering with police.

Chase Bank Catches Phony Checks

A Massachusetts man was arrested in Milford Tuesday on charges that he attempted to fraudulently cash two checks totaling about $5,000. The catch: he was held on a $75,000 bond.
