Debt Collection 'Swap' Leads to Arrest

Man thought both parties agreed to exchange of item for debt.

On April 5, police were on routine patrol when he was informed by dispatch that an alleged robbery had taken place earlier in the afternoon and that the suspect was someone with whom the officer was familiar.

Police went to the last known address of the suspect, identified as Lawrence Little, 25, of Columbus Avenue and spoke to his mother, who said her son was attending classes at Housatonic, and would have him call police.

About 20 minutes later, Lawrence called police.

The incident involved a Stratford resident reporting that his play station video game had been stolen from his home. Lawrence told police that he went to the alleged victim’s home to collect money that was owed to him and that he came away with the video game in an agreed-upon arrangement.

Lawrence told police there were no threats or guns displayed.

Lawrence said that he thought everything was just fine until he received a phone call from his mother saying that police were looking for him.

Lawrence turned himself into headquarters where he was charged with threatening, risk of injury to a minor, robbery, larceny and weapon in a motor vehicle. He was released after posting $10,000 bond and court was set for April 14.
