Cops: Man Threatens to Shoot Dog, Fires Shotgun into Lawn

Anthony Ruelle retrieved a shotgun when his dog and a neighbor's started to tussle, police said.

A Stratford man fired four shotgun rounds into his lawn Monday after a fight broke out between his dog and a neighbor's dog, police said.

Before he fired the shots, police said Anthony Ruelle, of 48 Riverview Place, threatened to shoot his neighbor's dog for "being too aggressive."

When officers responded to the address, Ruelle reportedly surrendered immediately. He was not armed when taken into custody, police said.

A 12-gauge shotgun and an AR-15 were seized at the scene, according to a release. There were no reported injuries.

  • Unlawful discharge of a firearm
  • Risk of injury to a minor
  • Breach of Peace
  • Reckless endangerment

He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court April 12.
