Is the Economy Improving?

We pose this question to residents around town. And want to know what you think, too.

There are some signs that the economy is improving, and there are others suggesting it is not. We want to know what you think.

Since jobs haven't come back to the USA, like Obama promised and my unemployment has run out, I SAY, HELLO NO! Where are the jobs? I am looking but at 69 years old who will hire me. Social security is not paying my bills. My grandchildren can't find jos either. So its off of unemployment and on to welfare.........................

It's our own fault. Everything we buy is foreign made. How does that put people to work here? And we keep voting for Democrats. Have you ever met a Democrat who didn't raise taxes?

The interviewed guy has it right, the problem is the government is making it cost prohibitive to do work in this country and the governor and folks in Hartford are making it cost prohibitive to work in this state so that's why people (companies) are going to other states, or other countries. Once the Chinese stop loaning money the music will stop.

The ethics in economy have changed....companies are finding it more cost effective to layoff older workers, wait a few months and recast the job with a new title for a younger, and lower cost (salary). Financially makes sense to the businesses, ethics are another story. Remember those of you under 40, someday this too will be part of your employment experience. The monthly unemployment stats are a joke, as they do not take into account underemployed and those whose unemployment insurance has run out.
