Rita M. Gerwien Hill, age 96, of Stratford, the widow of John Hill, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012 in Maefair Health Center, Trumbull.
Mrs. Hill, a homemaker, was born in Bridgeport, to the late George and Catherine (O’Connor) Gerwien, and has been a lifelong area resident.
Survivors include her beloved daughters Sharon Guerra and her husband Dann of Stratford, and Judith Mullany and her husband David of Shelton, four cherished grandchildren Tracey and her Husband Dr. Thomas Roballey, David Mullany and his wife Nancy, Daniel Guerra and his wife Tina, and Stephen Mullany and his wife Jane; "Grandma Beach" also leaves her 9 beloved great-grandchildren: Marissa, Kayla, Jillian, David, Lauren, Chelsea, Hailey, Jessica, and Stephen, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents she was pre-deceased by her brothers George, Edwin, and Walter Gerwien. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, October 9, at 11:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, and at 12 p.m in St. James Church Stratford, for a Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in Rita’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT. 06067.
