Obituary: Michael Piccirillo, 86

Mr. Piccirillo served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked for the Town of Stratford.

Michael Piccirillo, age 86, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Marie Riccio Piccirillo, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center.

Mr. Piccirillo, a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy, proudly serving aboard the destroyer USS Orleck, was born in Bridgeport to the late James and Theresa (Kocsis) Piccirillo, and has been a life long area resident.

He was retired from the Town of Stratford as Supervisor of the Department of Public Works, and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family.

Survivors include his devoted children Alan Piccirillo (Denise) of Prospect, Mark Piccirillo (Angela) Naugatuck, Glenn Piccirillo (Michael) of North Branford, and Michele Sinko (George) Shelton, 17 cherished grandchildren Brian (Sandy) Piccirillo, Brad (Heather) Piccirillo, Matthew (Allison) Piccirillo, Amy (Joe) Laggis, Christina (Rich) Sherwood, Elizabeth (Rich) Edwards, Alyssa Piccirillo, Michael Piccirillo, Justin (Kristen) Piccirillo, Nicholas Piccirillo, Ryan (Alana) Piccirillo, Kyle (Elisa) Piccirillo, Garrett Piccirillo, Angelina Piccirillo, Eric, Christopher and Jenna Sinko, 13 great-grandchildren, a sister Carmella Kusheba of Fairfield, four brothers Andrew (Helen) Piccirillo, John (Shirley) Piccirillo, Joseph (Phylis) Piccirillo all of Stratford, James (Barbara) Piccirillo of Milford, a sister-in-law Marie Piccirillo of Naugatuck, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his beloved wife and parents Michael was pre-deceased by his son James Piccirillo and his wife Donna, an infant daughter Sharon, and his brother Anthony.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church 2070 Main Street Stratford. Interment with full military honors will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in Michael’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
