Obituary: Mary Hodowanitz Nidoh, 89

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home.

Mary Hodowanitz Nidoh, age 89, of Stratford, the widow of Peter Nidoh, passed away on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 in Lord Chamberlain HCC, Stratford.

Mrs. Nidoh, a retired Mechanical Inspector for Textron-Lycoming was born in Scranton, Penn. to the late Michael and Anna (Plishka) Hodowanitz, and has been a longtime area resident.

She was a graduate of Scranton High School, and enjoyed bowling, dancing the Polka, following the Boston Red Sox, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Mary was a faith-filled woman, and was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church, Bridgeport.

Survivors include her devoted sons Donald Nidoh and his wife Gayle of Cheshire and Michael Nidoh of Shelton, two grandchildren David Nidoh of New York, and Laura Carr and her husband Adam of Pennsylvania, a brother Gregory Hodowanitz and his wife Mary of New Jersey, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents she was pre-deceased by brothers John, Michael, Nicholas and sister Ann.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford and at 10 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Church Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery Monroe. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in Mary’s memory to St. Michael’s Church.
