Obituary: George Perham, WWII Vet, Age 86

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 at 8:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home.

George G. Perham, age 86 of Stratford, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 in Lord Chamberlain Health Care Center, Stratford with his loving family by his bedside.

Born in Bridgeport to the late Stanley and May (Grainger) Perham, he has been a lifelong area resident. George was a WWII veteran of the US army and was retired from Cochran Chevrolet were he was a mechanic for over 35 years.

After retirement he worked for the State of CT Department of Emissions Control. George was an avid bowler and golfer and was a member of Orange Hills Country Club. He loved to golf with his son George and son-in-law Mike for over 30 years together on the golf course.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Dorothy Juliano Perham, his devoted children George J. Perham and his wife Kathy of Stratford and Carol Nizzardo and her husband Michael of Shelton, 4 grandchildren: Nicole Wilhelm and her husband Mark, George J. Perham II, Cindy Nizzardo, Michael Nizzardo and his wife Sarah, 4 great-grandchildren: Tyler Wilhelm, Emily Bea Wilhelm, Mikey Nizzardo, Joey Nizzardo and a brother John Perham and his wife Barbara of Litchfield, a brother-in-law Jim Juliano of Bridgeport, several nieces and nephews.

George was predeceased by a brother Stanley and 2 sisters Betty and Doris. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Lord Chamberlain for the loving care given to their father, husband and grandfather.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 at 8:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 9 a.m. in St. James RC Church, Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment with Full Military Honors will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
