Nine Inches Is Next for Stratford Library Book Talk

The Stratford Library “Books Over Coffee” program continues its 2014 winter/spring series with a discussion of Tom Perrotta’s new collection of short stories, Nine Inches on Wednesday, April 30th at noon. The monthly program, free and open to the public, is hosted by Stratford educator and author Kathleen Faggella

Nine Inches explores moments of turmoil and rupture in the suburbs, themes the author of Little Children and The Leftovers knows very well. Each story steps inside the lives of upstanding middle-class people, characters who are fundamentally privileged, not just because they attend strong public schools in affluent neighborhoods or have decent careers, but because they belong to a community, with families, neighbors and friends. Unfortunately, they can’t always hold on to their good fortune.

Participants are invited to bring a bag lunch to the program and coffee and tea is also served.  Limited reading copies of Nine Inches are currently available for loan at the library’s Check-Out Desk.  All “Books Over Coffee” titles are also available on Kindle and Nook eReaders for loan. A complete list of all the 2014 discussion titles is available at the Library and online.
