Stratford Parents' Place Offers Early Childhood Institute

As part of its ongoing commitment to improve the quality of early care and education in Stratford, Stratford Parents’ Place through the Early Childhood Institute  is sponsoring a workshop called Early Literacy: Making Stories Engaging and Interactive for Young Children.  This training will be held on Monday, February 11th  from 6:30-8:30pm in the Johnson House/Stratford Academy Library Media Center located at 719 Birdseye Street, Stratford. In this two-hour presentation, Jennifer Wood, Assistant Professor, Norwalk Community College will help early childhood teachers make stories come alive so that children are more engaged and involved during group story time.  This hands-on workshop will explore the following concepts: learning strategies for increasing vocabulary, adding open-ended question and props/materials to promote book knowledge, and using ideas to incorporate at the beginning, middle, and end of the story. This Early Childhood Institute is open to all Stratford early childhood professionals who either live or work in Stratford.  To register for both trainings, please call Stratford Parents’ Place at 203-381-6992 or email: nizzardop@stratfordk12.org
