UI to Issue Timeline for Restoration Thursday Morning [Updated]

About 8,500 Stratford customers are still without power.

Like the larger CL&P, United Illuminating expects to have a timeline of when power will be restored to the great majority of its customers by Thursday morning.

As of 10:48 p.m. Wednesday, 37 percent of Stratford was without power. That's roughly 8,500 households or businesses.

United Illuminating CEO Jim Torgerson said at a televised briefing on Wednesday morning that he understood the frustration of those in the 17 towns that UI serves in Connecticut.

"I understand these outages are a hardship on all our customers who are out," he said.

Torgerson said that UI was concentrating first on each town's top ten priorities, which were determined before the storm. He said there were line and tree crews in every town, and that another 20 workers from Nova Scotia would start working Thursday.

"We'll have over 900 resources on the ground," he said, to work on downed lines in more than 1,800 locations. More than 70,000 customers have been restored since the peak of the storm.
