Stratford Democrats

(Posted Sept. 3) The Annual Picnic of the Stratford Democratic Town Committee is on Sept 16, 2012 at one of the pavillions at Short Beach, from 11 to 4. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for kids, and $40 max per family. Please see your district leader to purchase tickets in advance, or pay at the door if you have reserved a spot. We look forward to seeing you!

Lordship Community Church

St. James School

(Aug. 28) Good food & a good time will be guaranteed at the Fathers Club Pig Roast [on Sept. 15, 3 to 9 p.m.] $15 per family; $20 day of event; $6 single. Hamburgs, hotdogs, pig, clams, water..moon bounce, spray tattoo guy, games, sno cones, popcorn, music, fun! A good time will be had by all! Rain Date is Sunday 9/16 from 2pm-8pm

Stratford Animal Rescue Society

(Sept. 1) Kit is going home today! She was rescued from a bad situation, was sick, antisocial and terrified. Our wonderful volunteers worked with her and brought her back to health and to bring her out of her shell for the past year. What a glorious day and wonder few weeks of awesome adoptions. This is the rewarding part of rescue!!!!!!

Stratford Fire Department

(Sept. 3) RIP retired Firefighter Don Becker! Retired Firefighter Becker served on the fire department for 38 years from July 1954-November 1991.

(Sept. 3) We are proud to be part of organized labor and we are glad that non union workers are able to enjoy the rights and benefits we have fought so hard to obtain and continue to fight so hard to maintain. We hope you have a safe holiday and enjoy your day off!

(Aug. 31) The Stratford Professional Firefighters were able to raise just over $2800, in less than 4 hours, for our annual MDA Fill the Boot Event. Thank you to everyone that came out to donate.

Save the Sound

(Sept. 3) It's been a great year for blue crabs in the tidal rivers of Long Island Sound! Has anyone been getting out and enjoying them?

(Aug. 28) Many have been asking about freezing the . Several customers order about a half dozen, cooked halfway, uncut. They flash freeze them. Wrap them as to not get freezer burn. When they want one, they allow it to thaw natually (no micros!). Preheat the oven to 475 (a pizza stone is ideal) and bake them until finished (8-10 min.) So easy. If you have access to a vacuum pack, even better! If you have any questions or other ideas to share, please feel free to tell us. SPREAD THE WORD / 2 more weeks!

(Aug. 31) Over sixty Stratford Rotarians and family members gathered at Short Beach on Friday, August 31 for an evening of good food and great fellowship at the club's Labor Day Weekend Family Picnic.
