Storms, Hail, Flooding Possible Today

A tornado is even possible, according to a WTNH meteorologist.

The National Weather Service warns that there is a “slight risk” of large hail, damaging wind and flooding in southern Connecticut this afternoon and evening.

In addition to the hail and wind, the warning says “heavy rain is also possible, leading to urban flooding of poor drainage and low lying areas."

According to WTNH meteorologist Gil Simmons, the weather conditions could lead to a tornado.

"The potential exists for damaging wind gusts, and although impossible to pin down exactly where, a tornado threat exists across the northeast, including all of Connecticut," Simmons said in forecast, which was transcribed by the Connecticut Post. "Please watch the sky closely this afternoon ... The timing would be after 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. today."
