State DEEP Rates Air Quality as Unhealthy for Sensitive Individuals
Infants, elderly and people with asthma or lung ailments should avoid exertion or prolonged exposure out of doors.
Hot, humid weather returning to and throughout Connecticut has prompted the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to issue an air quality alert for most of the state.
The air quality index on the DEEP website indicates that air pollution would be moderate to unhealthy on Friday for sensitive individuals, which are people who are very young, elderly or suffering from lung ailments.
Those people are warned to avoid prolonged exposure or exertion during periods of poor air quality.
