Smoke Signals: Will Graphic Warnings on Cigarette Packs Deter Smokers? (VIDEO)

The Food and Drug Administration announced last week that aggressive anti-smoking images will be required on cigarette packs sold in the U.S. after September 2012, USA Today reports.

One image has a man blowing smoke out of a tracheotomy hole in his neck. Another shows a baby looking at a cloud of smoke as an adult makes to kiss his forehead from the other side. Then there's the close-up of rotting teeth and the one of the corpse with his chest stitched up.

These are four of the nine images the Food and Drug Administration is pushing to include on cigarette packs sold in the United States after September 2012, USA Today reports.

Patch took to the streets - with five of the images in hand - and asked residents what they thought of the FDA's approach to decrease the amount of smokers in our country, which, according to the USA Today article, stands at 43 million.
