High winds overnight caused downed wires throughout Stratford prompting school officials to close school Thursday and leaving thousands without power.
As of 10:16 a.m., 9.16 percent of Stratford, or 2,113 customers, was in the dark, according to United Illuminating.

"Our automated outage reporting system will record and report your outage," says UI. "We will restore your power as quickly as we can."
