Elderly Man Dies Near Short Beach in Stratford

The 77-year-old Stratford resident reportedly died of an apparent heart attack.

Hours after local and regional emergency officials at Short Beach Saturday morning, an elderly man reportedly died of an apparent heart attack near the Stratford beach in an unrelated incident.

According to sources interviewed by the Connecticut Post, the man suffered a heart attack after walking out into the marsh to the east of Short Beach.

Assistant Fire Chief Lance Edwards told the Post that emergency officials attemped to revive the 77-year-old local, but there was no pulse and the victim was shortly thereafter pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital.
