Cops Nab Woman Trying to Steal Copper Downspout Off Town Hall

Police say the rising price of the metal has resulted in a crime wave of copper thefts.

police have been dealing with , but it still is unusual when someone tries to rip parts off Town Hall in broad daylight.

According to the Connecticut Post, police nabbed town resident Cynthia Wilson on June 15 after town hall employees reported that someone was trying to pull a copper downspout off the building in the middle of the day.

Police say higher prices for copper in recent years have resulted in an increase in such thefts, although most of the time thieves work at night or in vacant homes.
