Colon’s family, including his two daughters – ages 3 ½ and 22 months – have been staying with him in California for the last few weeks of the show. Although Colon hasn’t been home in a month, he said that the last time he was in West Hartford, in between earlier taped portions of “The Voice,” “people started to recognize me in Stop & Shop and other places I went.”

“I had just come off a showcase for a label that didn’t work out,” he said, and was disappointed that the deal was not successful. “I wasn’t going to try out, but my brother said to give it a shot.”

Colon is glad he did.

“I’m waiting to see how the chips are going to fall tonight, and I hope to bring home the title,” Colon said. The results show will be aired on Wednesday, June 29 (NBC, 9-11 p.m.).

“I want to thank people in West Hartford, including everyone at Hartt and the whole University of Hartford, for their support. Hartt was how I fell in love with West Hartford in the first place.”

“I’m going to do my best to bring the title home,” Colon said.
