Tickets for a benefit for The Stratford Arts Commission and the SCA (the Stratford Center for the Arts at the American Shakespeare Theatre), sold out within four days of going on sale.
The event scheduled for Feb. 17 at noon at the Scottish Rite Theater in Stratford is the second in a series of American Shakespeare Theatre Alumni Talks.
Frank Rizzo, theater writer for The Hartford Courant and Variety and contributor to TV's FOX/CT will conduct the on-stage interview with Mr. Walken about his 40-plus year television, film and stage career.
"Ticket demand was beyond our expectations. We had to stop taking phone reservations after 72 hours," said Ed Goodrich of the Stratford Arts Commission. "The tickets available at the local venues in town could not keep up with demand."
Commented SCA Executive Director Matt Catalano: "We are overwhelmed by the enthusiastic support we have received from the community. Unfortunately we are limited to the 244 seats in the Scottish Rite Theater."
Added SCA Communications Director Mark Graham: "The response from the actors and creative people who have worked at The Shakespeare Theatre is so encouraging that we are planning a number of these AST Alumni Talks throughout the year."
