The American Flag as History
On Memorial Day, May 28th the Stratford Baptist Church will host an exhibition of antique and historic American Flags.
This 35 flag collection contains flags dating back almost 150 years; most are at least 100 years old.
Included in the exhibit are a Civil War battle honors flag that commemorates the battle of Gettysburg and a small 34 Star American Flag, made of paper, with red, white and black stripes used by the general public to mourn Abraham Lincoln’s death.

These flags are American history, many have a story to tell and some can be directly related to individuals or events.
The exhibition will begin at 12:00 PM and continue ½ hour after the Stratford Memorial Day Parade ends. It is free to the public, but Stratford Baptist Church will be holding a ‘parking’ fundraiser. Beginning at 11:00 AM parking in their parking lot will cost $5.00/space. You can leave your car there for the duration of the parade.
