Nominate Stratford Patch’s 2012 Person of the Year

Do you know a local whose efforts this year deserve some praise? Nominate them here!

Using the form available here tell us about a fellow community member who impressed you with his or her dedication to the area.

At Patch, we know it's important to pause and recognize the community members who make the neighborhood a better place, each and every day.

Who contributed time and effort to planning that great event, or helping out a fellow resident in tough times? Maybe it's that person's positive spirit that impacts the community. Perhaps the person you're thinking of performs one of those "thankless" jobs we just can't live without.

No matter the reason, we'd like to hear about him or her, so go ahead and nominate a person using the form below.

Be sure to fill out all of the fields by 5 p.m. on Dec. 20. At that time, we will take the suggestions and ask readers to weigh in on the nominations. We'll announce the 2012 Stratford Patch Person of the Year soon after.

Note: In order to view the form, you must be signed in to your Patch account. To create an account, click "Join" in the top right-hand corner of your screen.

If you plan on creating “Stratford Patch’s 2012 Least Favorite Person of the Year”, I’d like to nominate Ebenezer Harkins.

The form to nominate someone for person of the year doesn't work, so I will make my nomination here. I nominate Marion Pierra, the infamous "cat lady," who continues to expose corruption and ineptitude at Animal Control. The longer that fight goes on, the more wrongdoing by animal control is discovered. If anyone deserves recognition, she does, for all the town has put her through.

The difficult choice to identify one person as Stratford Patch's 2012 Person of the Year became easy due to a sad and incomprehensible tragedy. Teacher Victoria Soto is a heroine and absolutely our Person of the Year. Killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School while protecting her students, Vicki was a town resident and a graduate of Stratford High School.
