Sikorsky Invites Public to Motorcycle Ride & Car Show Benefiting Wounded Warrior Project

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. invites all motorcycle and car enthusiasts to its 8thAnnual Motorcycle Ride and Classic Car Show benefit on Sunday, Oct. 13, at the company’s main facility, 6900 Main St., Stratford. The event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, which helps thousands of injured warriors returning home from current conflicts and provides assistance to their families.

“Sikorsky is proud to sponsor this unique community event for the eighth consecutive year,” said Shane Eddy, Event Chairman and Senior Vice President, Operations, for Sikorsky. “This year Sikorsky employees, their families and other concerned citizens from across the community will come together to honor our military veterans and support the Wounded Warrior Project.  We are forever thankful for our veterans’ service across the world, and now we are proud to have the opportunity to help them here at home.”

In past years, Sikorsky’s Motorcycle Ride and Classic Car Show has attracted hundreds of motorcycles and a wide array of classic and modern cars, trucks and motorcycles that compete for trophies in many categories based on voting by both spectators and judges. General admission costs $5, and children younger than 12 are admitted for free. Sikorsky is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

The scenic two-hour Motorcycle Ride will wind through seven area towns and cover 60 miles. Registration begins at 8 a.m. in the Sikorsky parking lot, and the ride starts at 9 a.m. The cost to participate is $25 per cyclist and $15 per passenger. A picnic is included for both cyclists and passengers.

Registration to display a classic car, truck or motorcycle starts at 9 a.m., and the show runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost to enter a vehicle is $15.
