Golf Fees to Increase at Short Beach Course

Local par-3 'pitch and putt' facility addressing a budget deficit and rising costs to maintain facility.

With the weather slowly improving as the calendar slowly makes it way to March, last week the Town Council unanimously voted to approve a plan by the Short Beach Commission to raise its golf course fees in part to address a current budget deficit.

Prior to the Council taking up the fee increase on its agenda, Short Beach Commission member Karen Daden addressed the Council during its Public Forum session.

Noting that “the last two years have been difficult” from a financial standpoint, Daden told members that the Short Beach Commission met Feb. 7 and agreed to send a motion to the Council seeking fee increases as follows:

  • Raise Town ID Cards from $5 to $10.
  • Raise the in-town golf outing fee from $6.50 to $10 on weekdays and from $8.50 to $12 on weekends.
  • Raise the out-of-town golf outing fee from $10 to $12 on weekdays and from $12 to $15 on weekends.

Daden explained that the ID card fee has not been increased in 10 years, and that the increase in player rounds is necessary due to the increasing costs of the prepping the course for play and maintaining it during the season.

In addition to individual rounds, the punch card player rates were also set:
