Stratford High Grad Sets NCAA All-Division Rushing Record

Octavias McKoy, a 2008 graduate of Stratford High, is making a name for himself at Western Connecticut State University.

Tune into ESPN’s 9 p.m. airing of SportsCenter Monday and you might recognize a familiar face.

Octavias McKoy, a 2008 graduate of Stratford High, will be in the studio after setting an NCAA All-Division rushing record of 455 yards on 43 carries on Saturday.

The Western Connecticut State University senior led his team to a 55-35 win over Worcester State University on his way to eclipsing the 17-year-old record by 14 yards.

The five touchdown runs came from one yard out, 15, 41, 53 and 71. McKoy has 23 scores on the seven-game season, which is good enough for tops in the nation.

The Stratford High grad has been named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Offensive Player of the Week, a nod he’s already received three times this season.

The WCSU Colonials are 5-2 on the season with two games remaining. McKoy only needs 96 yards to break the school rushing record for a season.
