New Business Comes to Paradise Green

The Coral Reef opens in Stratford.

The Coral Reef is the realization of a dream for Stratford resident Jonathon Eckart.

"It's something he's always wanted to do," says Donna Eckart, Jonathan's wife and co-owner of the new Paradise Green business. "Everything in the store he's built...[it's] a beautiful store to be able to come into."

The Coral Reef is the area's newest saltwater aquarium store. Located at 3627 Main St., the business carries tank systems for all coral and saltwater fish. There are about 75 species in the tanks at The Coral Reef.

"Whether you are a seasoned reef enthusiast or a beginner hobbyist, our goal is to provide quality livestock and ensure you experience an enjoyable aquarium in your home or business," say the owners. "We are solely a saltwater and reef system provider and house all that is needed for a complete reef bio-system."

Jonathan, who owns another business in town, is a graduate of Bunnell High School, says his wife.

"He's always been a hobbyist," she says. "He always wanted to become a marine biologist."

Although the store is currently open for business, The Coral Reef will hold a grand opening ceremony Saturday, March 16. In addition, on April 5, there will be a ribbon-cutting with Mayor John A. Harkins at noon.

The Coral Reef, 3627 Main St., is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
