Attempted Home Invasion Reported on Nichols Avenue

Police were unable to track down the suspect who reportedly tried to enter a woman's Nichols Avenue home at about 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Stratford police said they were unable to locate a male who reportedly tried to break in to a woman's house on Nichols Avenue Wednesday night.

Capt. Joseph McNeil said when officers arrived at about 8 p.m. they found "what looked like pry marks" on the back door.

McNeil said the woman inside the home called police saying she heard a bang coming from the back of her house and when she looked to see what it was she saw a male she didn't recognize trying to break in. The door was locked and the man never entered the home, police said the woman told them.

Six police officers and a K-9 unit responded to the call, but the track was terminated around Meadowbrook Road and Unity Drive (see map), McNeil said.

He said there have not been similar complaints in the area and last night's case has been closed.
