I live off East Main Street, trucks are constantly getting stuck under that bridge. Don't quiteRead More understand WHY the drivers try anyway when the warning is there!

People have to remember that it only takes one sociopath or hater and a can of spray paint to makeRead More an entire city or town look bad. These things happen everywhere and a handful of idiots are responsible so just paint over it or clean it off and ignore it.

If you are an anti-Zionist you are not anti-Semitic. Never forget that. Most Americans are scared ofRead More being called something they are not BECAUSE OF THESE NAZI IDIOTS. I do not support Nazis by no means. BUT What Israeli Jews have done to millions of Palestinians is anti-human. I am Jewish and I am anti-Zionist. Millions around the world INCLUDING JEWS are protesting as we speak of the massacre Israelis have performed in 2 weeks. Google Search: Norman Finkelstein and see what the difference is. My great grandparents were persecuted by Hitler and Norman's parents were exterminated by Hitler AND HE IS AGAINST ZIONISM.

God Bless , What a tragic loss . How was this K- 9 baby not secure. This K-9 was an officer of theRead More law and has died and hopefully the investigation shows it was no fault of his handler. John people are not laying blame , they simple want to know and are speculating , this is also a financial loss for Orange as well as loosing a trained officer and fur friend.

Whatever you do, dont question a cop's judgment. Theyre always right
Craig Zac July 22, 2014 at 07:46 am
poor dog... that sux. Sorry to hear of its loss. As for the Officer, Im sure they were using the dogRead More to sniff for drugs or something, whatever the case, the dog was only doing what it was trained for and weather or not the Handling officer "Needed" it there really does not matter.

Its time that we began to bring the illness of hoarding out for open discussion. Too oftn peopleRead More know there's a problem but don't want to get involved.

I wonder if these devices were purchased from another shady "Good Ol Boy" fire chief'sRead More side business at a pumped up price. We should not have grant money in the hands of those who decide who gets the contracts. It should be done by an independent 3rd party. Its bad enough we have so much nepotism in our Police department and DOPW.
Aislinn July 16, 2014 at 11:00 am
This man should be put in prison for committing this horrific crime against helpless animals. He isRead More not worthy of being called a human.
eileenh1 July 21, 2014 at 07:26 am
This poor excuse for a human being should be hit where it hurts...his wallet! No one should doRead More business at a shop run by people like this.

He will hire a Jewish Israeli Shister Lawyer to get him off with 5 Hail Marys and a couple of OurRead More Fathers. OR maybe he gets a year and serves a month like the HUNTSMAN State cop that rips off the dead motorcyclist of 1000's of dollars and gold.

Interesting. As they're listed above a quick check of the half dozen Towns/Cities with the highestRead More crime rates are also near the bottom of the list of citizens with pistol permits. New London #166. New Britain #152. Waterbury #153. Bridgeport #158. New Haven #168 and Hartford #169 of 169 Towns in CT. Any correlation?
David Parsons July 14, 2014 at 11:22 pm
Small towns have a larger percentage of people with permits but a far lower number of permits.Read More Canaan has the highest 13.5% and there are a whopping 167 permits. Bridgeport, on the other hand, only has 2.8% that amounts to 4,031 permits.

I thought I read somewhere that most armed robberies were committed with guns that were stolen fromRead More homes. If you feel you must own a gun, don't advertise it. That alone could be the reason your home gets broken into! Obvious alarms and locks could make thieves wonder what's so valuable that it needs all that security. Again, don't advertise how secure your home is, and what valuables are inside.
IOU July 14, 2014 at 10:33 am
I never trust crime numbers. The police supply the data and it's in the best interest of the policeRead More if the crime rate is very low. It makes residents feel safe. It gives job security to the police if the residents are led to believe the police are doing a good job. There was an incident in my town a few years ago where a man murdered his wife. But the crime stats said there were no murders. I lost interest in our police stats at that point.
John Q. Public July 14, 2014 at 12:21 pm
The more police officers a town has per person, the more 'crime' gets reported!
Ken Anderson July 15, 2014 at 09:22 am
Whoever compiled this shouldn't be taken seriously. They've got five different Hartfords demarcatedRead More (all with the same stats though--?) and yet they forgot at least one whole town. I'm not going to say which one--that's their job, but if I had to remark on the State of Union, I'd just say "very, very swollen." C'mon, if they're going to offer stats like this at least get the flipping map right! Sheesh.
Cpl. Jessie Peterson of the Highland Village Police Department only lasted 30 minutes in quickly-rising temperatures of the car before he had to get out and recover.

Cars have alerts when you do not have your seat belt clicked. Why not alerts if the seat belt isRead More clicked in the back seat and the door is opened to alert the parent? If the door is closed without the seat belt un-click the horn would blow until un-clicked. Hows that for a new invention car manufacturers?
Igor July 16, 2014 at 11:09 am
How about people just pay attention to what they are doing? It's not not just with children. TheyRead More drive, walk the same way. With their heads up their butts. Why should it fall on the auto makers (thus increasing the cost to the consumer) to do what the parents should be doing?

It's unlikely they will put the horses down if their only issue is a lack of groceries. However,Read More they have obviously been starved on and off for at LEAST a few years if it was first reported in 2011. Like most mammals, this kind of malnutrition can destroy the internal organs. Horses a especially subseptable. I hope the court denies any appeal she makes, because what ever her issue is, she obviously either won't or can't properly care for them.
BARBARA July 14, 2014 at 10:52 am
It says nothing about putting them down. Hopefully they will be fed and cared for then put up forRead More adoption. Poor horses at the mercy of an unfit human to take care of them !

you mean to tell me that no one has any ideas as to who shot this kid and why? What about the homeRead More where he was shot? who lived there? what's their deal? was the shooter trying to send them a message and shot this kid thinking he was whoever lived at that home? this kid also was supposedly dating some girl who had a jealous ex? nothing came of that? its so strange, a seemingly happy, normal, innocent kid gets killed in a sniper attack and there's no motives or any reason or suspects at all? Hmmmm. I feel bad for his family.

Very sad to see this happen to such a young man. My heart goes out to the family. I know the ownerRead More of Burns tire who is a very nice guy but he needs to clean up the place. The beard is a bit strange and scares my kids but I think its pretty cool. BURN'S TIRE BLIGHT & STRATFORD: 1000's upon 1000's of visitors weekly use the drive-thru of Wendy's and must pass the back of Burn's Tire and view its rusty SHIPPING CONTAINER GRAVEYARD in the back. Back seated or front seated car seat.... my question is: how in the WORLD can these parents goRead More hours, and hours throughtout the day without thinking about their baby??? Don't they think about their child like: what is he/she doing right now, is he sleeping or playing with his friends, is he eating right now? Is he ok????etc...). Don't they call each other (mom/dad) to ask how the daycare drop off went??? My God!!! I think they should have the same punishment.
Ron Drew July 16, 2014 at 03:57 pm
Rita is correct in her response but what I am saying is to be consistent. New Haven should notRead More arrest a parent for accidentally leaving a child in the car and Ridgefield not arrest. Also Igor indicated not to put the burden on the car makers. Yet they now have computer chips to stop the car before it hits something and beeps at the driver if they move across the center line. All these are good things so how about something that helps solve this problem.
johndoe July 17, 2014 at 02:46 pm

JYD July 14, 2014 at 11:44 pm
For all those patting the state police on the back, keep in mind that numbers were down about 30%Read More compared to 2013. And based on my observations, it wasn't because drivers were suddenly obeying traffic laws. Definitely less of a police presence on the roads this time around.

Igor - It is the rare human being who does not do what you describe. >>> Porter - My pointRead More is that those who complain about profiling point to disproportionate stops/arrests/etc compared to representation in the general population rather than looking at historical data on incidents, etc. Such people will ignore that the white stops are nearly equal to their representation; they will point to the black stops being higher than their population representation and yet ignore that that cohort is more likely than the others to be violators. In traffic stops, particularly on highways, LEOs stop those who violate or act suspiciously, not those who fit a certain profile. As has been pointed out by others, rarely is the race of a driver known until they are pulled over.

Get them monkeys!
Craig Zac July 22, 2014 at 08:02 am
I dunno, are cops here in CT really that bored that they can go out and just pick on minorities?Read More also, what about when a cop is taking radar on the side of the road and some car speeds by, does the cop have time to sit and go, was he black? Hispanic? white? ... I think that if you get pulled over, its for a reason, speeding, failing to stop at a red light or stop sign, or maybe some of these people being pulled over are in the inner cities and the cops know them or who they are and suspect them of something? (I know its wrong to assume someone is guilty of something that you don't have proof of but...) maybe some cops are targeting blacks and Hispanics... what id like to know is, are these people also getting fined or ticketed for anything or are they being let go with a warning?
Cookie1255 July 8, 2014 at 11:08 am
that area is very small so why dont they look at video cameras from gas stations/ mini marts aroundRead More that area and see anyone who looks suspicious.
Gil Fevrier July 8, 2014 at 04:19 pm
This is extremely concerning !! Why is there no information on who or what caused this young man toRead More be murdered within just a few miles of where we live ????
Sue July 4, 2014 at 11:55 am
As if the recent, tragic story in the news isn't enough of a reminder of what happens when you leaveRead More a child in a sweltering hot car...isn't this "parenting 101" up there with don't let your children play on the highway?? I just heard her reason on the news and that was the child didn't want to go into the store... Really?? The child is 3, you pick them up and take them into the store... Is this woman all there? If her husband has any sense he'll divorce her and take custody.
