Roosevelt Forest to Celebrate National Trails Day June 1

Activities in the morning at the Stratford forest precede Stratford Day festivities on Main Street in the afternoon.

The following information comes from Roosevelt Forest Commission member Bob Ford.

This Saturday, June 1, Roosevelt Forest will celebrate National Trails Day.

Towns across Connecticut and the U.S. will have activities to bring people out onto the trails of our parks and forests.

The schedule is for activities during the morning -- Stratford Day activities will take place later in the day downtown on Main Street:

8 a.m. -- a non-competitive mountain bike ride: meet in the parking lot, wear a helmet, always ride in control, bring water and wear bug-spray.

9 a.m. -- several hikes lasting 30 to 60 minutes wear shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather.

10 a.m. -- Boy Scout demonstrations.

Activities conclude by 11 a.m.
