Al-Anon is About Hope and Peace

The organization offers services to those affected by alcohol and drug abuse.

A family of three was spreading a message of hope and peace to those affected by alcohol and drug abuse, from their booth at the Stratford Main Street Festival on June 4.

Diane Hicks, her husband, Dave, and daughter, Marla Metviner, were representing CT Al-Anon.

"We help people who have a family member using drugs or alcohol and they're affected by it," Hicks said. "We bring hope for them."

According to literature distributed at the organization's booth, Al-Anon is not allied with any sect, denomination, political entity, organization or institution. It is a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength and hope to solve their common problems.
